Thursday was the longest day in school.
Woke up bright and early for my Environmental Sustainability lecture.
We watched a video of the population changes in Sub-Saharan Africa and how it's putting strain on the entire society.
There is a large number of families out there which consist only of orphans because their parents passed on after being diagnosed with HIV.
Due to the lack of education and income available for the household, the eldest in the family (if a girl) would have to sell their bodies for sufficient income for a simple meal to ensure the survival of the family.
They told a story of a family of 5 children (which ended up as 6 because their niece's parents too had passed on because of the deadly disease). The eldest turned to prostitution to ensure a meal for the family or sometimes a bowl of rice. In the documentary, she said that they would get more if they chose not to use the condom.
Eventually, she too was diagnosed with HIV.
This has caused the dwindling of the independent age group (working age) in this region of the world causing much strain with a large proportion of the region being children below the age of 14 to care for themselves.
HOW CAN WE HELP THEM?
I think it's so sad how there are so many other social issues that we need to face today but somehow, with all the economic crisis, people tend to forget about those who can't even cope with attaining their basic necessities. Instead, we are blinded by the rising prices and the retardation of economic development :( I admit, sometimes I too am like that. :(

FIRSTLY, WELCOME HOME MUMMY! (:
Mummy's back in Singapore for the Chinese New year.
Woke up Bright and early on the Friday morning at 5am to pick her up from the airport before heading to Bukit Timah Market for breakfast before the sunrise, which was rather horrible.
Went back home to sleep again to prep for my shoot.
Did a shoot for a maternity wear line and met bee for a little while in school before he was off for his rugby match!
